The storm is over! Finally the rain has stopped, but the aftermath is devastation in some areas of North and South Carolina. We kept hearing the weather reports, but we noticed that no one really knew exactly what would happen such as how severe the hurricane may be and where exactly it would make landfall. People now are trying to pick up the pieces of their lives and many homes have been destroyed due to the flooding from the storm. Some of us have been inconvenienced without internet, cable, and power which pales in comparison to those who have been displaced due to the storm. Most of us realized while we were waiting for the hurricane to approach we knew we could not do anything in our power to stop it. Prayers were answered as the recent hurricane turned into a tropical storm and then a tropical depression, however lives were sadly still lost. I pondered and admitted that earthly possessions such as houses, cars, boats, furniture, etc. can be replaced, but people cannot be replaced.
Are you going through a storm in your life? Are you asking, “Where are you, God? Do you care?” The answer is yes! He is here and He cares for you. He understands the pain and suffering you are experiencing. Hebrews 4:15 says that Jesus is able to understand our weaknesses. We all want a storm- free life, but the devil is constantly going about in the world to kill and destroy us. God has overcome Satan and we must be anchored to Him so we can come out of our storm with renewed strength, and hope knowing that God will never leave us or forsake us. Stand firm and trust in God. Look for sweet Christian friends who can help you. Read the Word of God, and pray for your heavenly Father to help you. Don’t give up! The sunshine will come out. Hold tight to God, rest in Him. He loves you!
Psalm 40:2-3
“He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.”
